Rikuto Daikai, a second-year doctoral student in Professor Gomez's Sabo Laboratory at the Graduate School of Maritime Sciences, received the Young Researcher Outstanding Presentation Award (Presentation Award) at the 2025 Research Presentation Conference of the Japan Society of Erosion Control (Nagano Conference).
Ohmi is researching the process and mechanisms by which volcanic debris flows from island volcanoes reach coastal areas.
Through international collaborative research targeting volcanoes in Japan and the Indonesian archipelago, he is striving to elucidate the processes of topographical change and sediment movement in volcanic environments using scientific and engineering approaches, with the aim of understanding the actual situation of volcanic disasters and improving the accuracy of their prediction.
