Evaluation Guidelines for Thesis / Dissertation

The Graduate School of Maritime Sciences, Kobe University, comprehensively evaluates a degree thesis based on the Graduate School's diploma policies and according to the following criteria.

Master's thesis evaluation criteria

When reviewing a Master's thesis, the specialism of the degrees is evaluated based on the following viewpoints. The research methods and unique characteristics of each field are also taken into consideration.

  1. The creativity and originality of the research contents are recognized
  2. The research topic was set clearly and appropriately
  3. The review and examination of the prior research was carried out appropriately
  4. The clearness and consistency of the thesis' argument are recognized
  5. The suitability of the organization and form of the thesis are recognized

Doctoral thesis evaluation criteria

When reviewing a Doctoral thesis, the superior specialism of the degree thesis is evaluated according to the following viewpoints. The research methods and unique characteristics of each field are also taken into consideration.
