The International Association of Maritime Universities (IAMU) is a network association of maritime-related universities around the world established in November 1999 with the support of the Nippon Foundation.

IAMU provides unprecedented and unique opportunities to discuss extremely important issues, such as the systems and direction for maritime education and training for the next generation, and a new framework for maritime safety management from land. Therefore, the Faculty and Graduate School of Maritime Sciences, Kobe University, actively serves as a base for this international maritime organization.

Objectives of the activities of
the International Association of Maritime Universities (IAMU)
Establish a global network of maritime-related universities
Build a new curriculum and new framework in international maritime society so that graduates of maritime-related universities can contribute to safety management activities in maritime society as ship crew or safety management engineers
