- Research Interests
- Aging-related changes in appearance are known to include gray hair, hair waviness, and loss of hair firmness and elasticity. In the skin, aging causes the development of spots, wrinkles, and sagging.
In this laboratory, we aim to develop and commercialize technologies that improve these aging-related changes in appearance by utilizing advanced green chemical technologies developed at the Graduate School of Science, Technology and Innovation.
- Development of novel bioconjugation technologies to improve hair firmness, elasticity, and waviness caused by hair aging
- Development of next-generation hair coloring technologies using naturally derived coloring methods to improve gray hair
- Development of technologies using functional ingredients discovered in black vinegar, which has recognized pharmacological benefits, to improve wrinkles, sagging skin, sensitive skin, and atopic dermatitis induced by environmental pollution
In addition to these technologies, we also work on innovations in a broad range of fields including. Through collaboration with the social sciences and entrepreneurship-driven approaches, we aim to create new value through interdisciplinary integration of science and humanities.
- Message for Students
- Cosmetic science is a wonderfully interdisciplinary field, where hair science, skin biology, colloidal interface science, analytical chemistry, materials chemistry, chemical biology, synthetic biology and so on come together in meaningful ways. As you explore this area, you will find that true progress comes not only from scientific knowledge but also from understanding the needs and hopes of the people we aim to serve. I hope you will grow into individuals who can connect scientific discovery with real value in society. Let us learn side by side, create new ideas together, and help shape the future of the cosmetics industry as a team.
