The International Maritime Research Centre (IMaRC) is established within the Graduate School of Maritime Sciences, Kobe University, with the aim of conducting comprehensive and cutting-edge research in maritime affairs, while actively disseminating information to contribute to the development of the maritime community both domestically and internationally.
We currently have the following four research divisions:
- International Maritime & Ocean Policy conducts research on international maritime policy and ocean policy from perspectives including international law and data science.
- Logistics Systems Science conducts integrated research combining logistics science, transport engineering, transport packaging engineering, economics, management science, and information engineering concerning distribution and logistics systems.
- Oceanography & Maritime Sciences conducts research on environmental conservation, resource development, energy technologies, and exploration technologies related to the Earth and oceans. Finally,
- Maritime Transport Engineering conducts research on technological development and safety management concerning transport systems, including maritime transport.
We have a strong desire to fulfil our mission through collaborative research with colleagues both domestically and internationally. To facilitate effective joint research, we have established our own research fellow program. Please do not hesitate to contact us.

| October 2003 | Kobe University and Kobe University of Mercantile Marine (神戸商船大学) merged, establishing the International Maritime Education and Research Centre affiliated with the Faculty of Maritime Sciences (IMERC:国際海事教育研究センター). |
